Victorian British Military (Army & Royal Navy) Working Pay Strongbox & Stand (c.1850-1901)
This fantastic fully functional portable handled safe or strongbox is in fine fettle and has an amazing patina to the exterior.
Made in cast iron with the Queens Crown, Letter “R” (Victoria Regina) and Military broad arrow prominent twice to the lid, either side of the lock escutcheon & sliding cover. It has lifting handles to the sides and a further one to lift the heavy lid, it retains the original key, which works smoothly within the lock and its sits proudly on a sturdy solid mahogany stand. Overall it measures 18”W x 12”D x 8”H, 26”H on stand.
Great piece of Victorian military furniture which is still very useful today!
