Superb Vintage Royal Navy HMS Malcolm Commissioning Bell & Stand d.1957

HMS Malcolm was a Blackwood class, anti-submarine frigate built for the RN, commissioned in 1957. She was named after Admiral Sir Pulteney Malcolm, who served during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
Shortly after joining the service, Malcolm joined the Fishery Patrol Squadron in April 1959, continuing on these duties until 1965. She was part of a five-ship group that was deployed to Iceland for fishery protection duties in what became known as the Cod Wars. She operated out of Edinburgh during the first Cod War, and from Rosyth after that. After a refit in 1966, when she rejoined the Fishery Patrol Squadron before joining the 20th Frigate Squadron in 67, based at Londonderry. Duties included training with submarines while continuing to carry out fishery protection patrols.
The Cod Wars dispute finally finished in 1976, two years later, Malcolm was considered too small to act as a modern frigate and so she was decommissioned and scrapped in 1978.
The original ships bronze bell is in great used condition and nicely presented on a custom built solid oak stand, it has 12.5” flare and is 13”H. It retains the original clanger & 14” Bellrope and is embossed with the ships name & 1957 commissioning date to the front with the Admiralty broad arrow to the reverse.
The oak stand is 37”H x 18”W x 16”D and comes with a framed photo with ships details.
