Superb Solid Bronze Royal Navy Salvaged HMS Tiger Ships Bell. c.1914-32
HMS Tiger was a battlecruiser built for the RN, commissioned in 1914 and was the most heavily armoured British battlecruiser at the start of WW1. She participated in the battles Dogger Bank, Jutland where she was only lightly damaged despite suffering many hits by German shells and also provided distant cover during the Second Battle of Heligoland Bight in 1917. Tiger finally took the cheers of the
Atlantic Fleet on 30 March 1931 at Devonport when she was decommissioned before being sold to Thos. W. Ward of Inverkeithing for breaking up in 1932
This wonderful naval artefact has been professionally made during the 1930’s from savage materials from HMS Tiger when she was being dismantled. It’s in good used condition and well presented in an oak frame with a brass finial. The bell has a 7” flare and is embossed with “Metal From HMS Tiger, Jutland 1916”, the frame measures 16”W x 7”D x 12”H.
I’ve sold several of these over the years and they are hugely popular!
