Superb Royal Navy Brass & Walnut De-activated Schermuly Flare Pistol.
The Schermuly was a highly successful pistol, which undoubtedly saved countless lives at sea and were used for firing flares during both world wars. The Royal Navy used various types throughout WW1 & WW2 with this example being the early and rarer type with flat based pistol grip.
The condition is very good with matching numbers, the frame and barrel are brass with the correct British proof stamps with the original grips made in Walnut. It’s been Deactivated but left with a working action, so it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired and comes with its certificate.
