Superb Large Vintage 19thC Napoleonic 12 Pounder Field Gun or Cannon Model

A naval field gun is a piece of artillery historically landed from warships to support land operations. This concept famously originated during the 1899 Siege of Ladysmith in the Boer War, where the Royal Navy created makeshift carriages for 12-pounder and 4.7-inch guns to help the British Army.
This really is a fantastic replica, possibly of a British Naval field gun, the 17.5” cast iron barrel is completely bored out and has a taper hole, which sits on a solid oak carriage with steel rimmed 10” wheels. There’s a good possibility that this is a powder firing cannon, it’s definitely well made, possibly during the early part of the 20thC and is extremely sturdy, overall it measures 27”long x 15”H x 11”H.
