Superb Large Solid Silver HMS Hood Gunroom Mess Cigarette Box & Photo.

This superb Royal Naval artefact is in good used condition, with areas of wear commensurate with its age & use.

Made by the famous “Page, Keen & Page”, jewellers of Plymouth in 1921 (Hallmarked for 1919/20) and engraved to the lid “WFRC” and to the front “Gunroom Mess, HMS Hood, 27/12/21”, when the ships was alongside in Devonport for Christmas.

It is lined in cedar wood and came with an original photograph of the ship alongside in Hobart, Tasmania, probably taken during the ship’s famous Special Service Squadron World Cruise in 1923/4. The silver box has a strong lid hinge, lifting lip, black leather base and measures 5.5”W x 3.5”D x 2.25”H.
