HMS Oakham Castle was a Royal Navy corvette of the Castle class, commissioned in 1944. Built as a convoy escort during WW2 and spent most of the war in the North Atlantic.
It later became a weather ship in 1957 and renamed “Weather Reporter” by Lord Hurcomb, the then Chairman of the Meteorological Committee, she spent the next 20’years in this role until finally meeting her fate, being scrapped in 1977.
This fabulous bell off this ship is in good used condition with an aged patina. Overall, it measures 12.5”H x 12.5” in diameter and comes with its original clanger and bell rope. It has the ships named embossed to the front and an Admiralty Crowsfoot or broad arrow to the reverse.
