Sublime WW2 US Navy & RN Hydrographic Chronometer by the Hamilton Watch Co d.1941
This wonderful 7.5” Sq brass banded mahogany case, with viewing window and brass handles, houses the gimballed brass precision marine chronometer, which was manufactured by the famous watchmakers “Hamilton Watch Co of Lancaster, PA USA”, for the USN and Royal Navy during WWII.
(This particular one has a British MOD label for the Hydrographic Dept, Stores Ref H.S 527-3634.)
It’s in full working display condition with only the odd minor imperfection commensurate with its age & use, and retains the original winding key.
The case, key, timepiece and store dept label all have the same matching serial number “1180”, with the legendary jewelled precision mechanical mechanism ticking along nicely and keeping accurate time, see video, and is issue free with a scratch free lens.
