Brilliant Signed & Framed No 40 Ltd Edition Artwork by George Murray of the RY Britannia (d.1997)
This Queen Elizabeth II commissioned picture of the Royal Yacht depicts the ole lady flying her decommissioning pennant at Tower Bridge London in 1997. It was originally created by George Murray with a pencil signed Ltd Edition run of 850 created, these were offered to the past officers that served aboard her and so they do not come to the market very often.
This was a sad day indeed, not only for the Queen but for the Royal Navy in general. I have personal memories of serving on several RY Guard ships during my time in the RN, including her last global deployment to the Far East handing Hong Kong over to the Chinese. I’ve one of these in my own private collection…..
It’s in fine fettle, well presented and measures 22” x 27”. Just hang and admire!
