From the Estate of the Royal Navy Hydrographer “Captain Richard Campbell RN” is the 1st of three collections from his time onboard HMS Dampier and HMS Endurance, but this one focuses on his time as the Captain of HMS Hydra during the Falkland’s conflict.

At the time of the Falklands War, the man in command of the Survey ship HMS Hydra was Cdr R.J Campbell (1933-2023), who came from a family of RN hydrographers & surveyors.
His obituary in the Telegraph gave a good account of his amazing naval career and his endeavours onboard the converted Survey Vessel to Hospital Ship HMS Hydra.
This collection of official photographs, personal ephemera, mounted ships badge and Navy News edition, dated June 1982, comes with the ships “Falklands Islands 1982” Honours board and worn “Red Cross” flag, that was hoisted from the main mast of the ship during the conflict, which has a couple of areas of make’n’mend patches and has a weather frayed fly end.
