Exceedingly Rare 3 Draw English Terrestrial Telescope & Compass by Lawrence & Mayo (c.1895)
This antique 3 draw English enamelled brass terrestrial refractor telescope is called 'The Sign Post', made by Lawrence & Mayo of Chancery Lane, London, dating to the late Victorian period. It’s in fine fettle with no lens issue’s and comes with the original carry case and built-in compass, which are both marked with the makers details.
It has a sliding sun shield with hinged compass
dust cap, which displays cardinal and inter-cardinal points, rear eye cup with sliding dust cover and has a machine textured primary tube making it a tactile delight.
Closed length is 28cm (11''), Fully drawn is 78cm (30.75'') with the primary objective diameter is 40mm (1.5'').
