Amazing Vintage Scratch Built Cased Model of the Royal Navy Minesweeper HMS Ashton
Ashton was a Ton Class minesweeper built for the RN in the late 1950’s and spent most of her service in the Mediterranean based at Malta. She spent a small amount of time at fishery protection, had a collision with a sister ship whilst sweeping and went to aid Sicily after an earthquake at Trapani before decommissioning in 1974
The model is in great condition with a few imperfections and minor
inaccuracies commensurate with its age. It’s completely built from scratch and impressively detailed. It’s encased in a Solid Rosewood & thick glass case (Quite heavy) which combined, looks absolutely amazing. The model is secured to the inside via screws to the underside of the case which measures 32”L x 12”W x 18”H.
