Finally in the M&K shop and up for grabs is this most sought after….

19thC M. Boultons Battle of Trafalgar 1805 Medal & Pinchbeck Holder & Ribbon.
Boulton's Trafalgar Medal was produced at the Soho Mint in Birmingham, some 15,000 of the medals were produced entirely at the expense of Boulton himself who was "publicly saddened" that King George III had not produced an award for the brave Royal Navy seamen who fought & won the Battle of Trafalgar on 21st October 1805.
The 5cm medal has the Bust of Lord Nelson in uniform facing left, surrounded by the words “HORATIO VISCOUNT NELSON.K.B.DUKE OF BRONTE” and to the reverse is a scene of the battle with the legend “ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY”.
In the exergue is 'TRAFALGAR OCTr. 21 1805' and around the edge is impressed with “From M. Boulton to the heroes of Trafalgar”. The medal is made of pewter with a silver wash and is mounted in a gilded brass or pinchbeck frame with a flat loop top suspension ring and has a long piece of dark blue 38mm ribbon which is threaded through the loop.
It’s in fairly good condition considering its age with the reverse fairly well polished from wearing the medal, swinging & rubbing against the brave recipient’s clothing.
I’ll be happy to keep this in my possession for a while but equally happy for it to find a good home!
